Adopt a Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat)

Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat) Dog

Fusion - PENDING! the Dog needs a home

New to OCDRT on 11-19 from a central Ohio shelter

Fusion is being fostered in Ravenna OH

Fusion is around a year old and 30#. He was very stressed in the shelter and was pulled from the adoption floor to lower his stress and find rescue placement. He is started with his vetting & OCDRT will complete his vetting in the next 3 weeks. Fusion is wicked smart and full of puppy energy. He introduced well to the resident neutered male ACD and he is learning that rude play is not acceptable. Fuse met the resident cats and needs training to leave them alone, but he's willing to comply. He crated quiet overnight and kept his

crate clean. He's still letting all the stress & energy go and settling in nicely. Fusion will learn crate training, house training, foundation skills, basic obedience, leash walking, riding in a vehicle, dog, cat, and people social skills. Please allow us 2 - 3 weeks to evaluate him and complete his vetting. Fusion will require an Adopter with prior ACD experience.

UPDATE 11/24/2017: Fusion did great at the vet and tested negative for heartworm & tick diseases and his fecal was also negative. He's a happy pup full of energy and orneriness. Fusion LOVES to fetch and is learning many tricks to keep his brain busy. He's really settled well in the week he's been with his foster home and we are seeing great potential in him!

UPDATE 1/8/2018: Fusion had his consult with our vet last evening for old injuries to both lower hind legs. He feels Fusion is not a candidate for surgery due to the fact that, these are old breaks that have healed nicely, the joints are not affected, Fusion is not in any pain, nor does the way he healed hamper his activity or quality of life. Fusion needs to stay at a light weight & kept fit (and that is just simple good care) but otherwise no restrictions, let him be a dog and let him decide what he can and can't do. As you can see from the posted videos on our FaceBook page, Fusion is happy and active!

UPDATE 1/30/2018: We have accepted a deposit from an approved applicant to hold Fusion for an upcoming meeting. We will update after his meeting.

UPDATE 2/4/2018: Fusion is available. His potential adopters felt he had too much energy for them. This is why we do meetings at the foster dogs home. So their true personality is seen. We would rather have adopters think things through prior to the adoption. Fusion is super happy and ready for his forever home. He travels to many places with his foster family and is very social. He likes meeting other dogs, and is cat savvy. Fusion is indeed a very active ACD, and is looking for that home that can keep him mentally and physically stimulated.

UPDATE 2/12/2018: Fusion had a meet n greet from an approved adopter and has a deposit to hold him until 2/17 when he can go home.

We do require prospective adopters to travel to the home of the foster dog along with all family members, including any resident dog(s). This is the only way to see the known temperament of our fosters dogs, while they are in the home they feel is 'their's'.
